So you want a web site. Why? If you're answer is, "because everyone needs a website," then you haven't given this enough thought. Scoja specializes in building websites that accomplish objectives and thus earn their keep and bring a return on the investment. But to meet the objectives, we need to know what those objectives are. Are you trying to generate leads? Inform investors? Sell a product or service? Interact better with existing customers? These are all "needs behind the need."
If you come to us and say you want an intranet, our first question will be, 'why?' Websites come in many shapes and forms. Many look pretty but don't do what you set out to do. But if we know in no uncertain terms what you want to do, not only can we do that, but we can advise you on options you may not have considered. We have many tools in our toolbox, but just as you wouldn't tell a carpenter which hammer to use to put up a wall, you're better of just telling us what you want the wall to look like and where you want it to go and let us come up with the best tools to use based on our experience.
One of the most common questions we get is, “How much does a web site cost?”
Asking what web design costs is like us asking you how much a car costs. You need to know make, model, year, options, etc. Otherwise, throwing a price out there is pointless without defining at least some basic parameters. Similarly, we need to know a lot of information. At the same time, we know there is nothing more frustrating than trying to get some hard figures (so that you can budget your project or comparison shop) and always being told "We'll have to work up a full proposal first. We'll get back to you in two weeks." So we're committed to being frank and up-front about our pricing, and we're not afraid to throw out numbers early on in the discussion with the understanding that our estimate is only as accurate and complete as the information you have given us so far.
We determine our design price based on many factors including, but not limited to: estimated number of hours required, complexity of the project, size of the project, expectations of the client, level of skill required, global market conditions, current internal work load, etc.
Whether you fill out our web based form, send us an email with your general requirements, or we chat on the phone for a half hour, Scoja can generally price any website design project after the first conversation.
Let's talk about what you get when you hire Scoja to build you a web site. Every site Scoja builds is custom designed. So there is no 'standard package' with a set list of features for a set price. However, there are certain elements common to every website we produce:
- Professional Code. Hand written, efficient, commented, standardized, optimized code. This is important because should you want to hire your own internal webmaster to work on the site we've produced, or if you should ever want to retain a new web developer, they'll be able to pick up right where we left off. Standardized code protects you from being held hostage by a single developer.
- Unlimited Editing and Revisions. We price our projects per project, not per hour. However, we never lock down the number of hours we'll spend making edits, corrections, revisions, etc. If we need to design 20 initial designs before we please a client, we will--with a smile.
- Search Engine Optimization. We don't try to up sell you on this after we build your site. We build your website from the ground up with search engine optimization and search engine placement in mind.
- Compatibility. Full cross browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, FireFox), backward version (versions 4.x and up), cross platform (Windows and Mac) compatible code. While we do favor Internet Explorer, our sites work on just about any system.
