Scoja is not interested in competing with all the other web hosts out there. Quite candidly, there is no money in it. So why do we bother hosting? We host because it gives us total control of our clients’ accounts. This way we have dozens instead of hundreds of accounts on our server. And we know each account intimately.
More importantly, if there is a problem, we have the access we need to fix it. As web developers, one of the biggest frustrations we face is that once we build a web site, it is up to the host to keep it up and running. If you host with Scoja, you know that when there is a problem, Scoja is the one responsible for resolving the issue. Period.
To be clear, in no way do we require that you host with Scoja. Again, we really don’t make much money on hosting. We provide this service so that our clients don’t get lousy service and the run around that most hosting providers offer.
Website Support & Maintenance
Our website maintenance plan is designed to provide you with a single point of contact for basic website and email changes.
Maintenance typically falls into one of two options:
As Needed
Maintaining your website on an “As Needed” basis means we are available to perform whatever it is that you need done, when you need it done. For this service, we charge a set hourly rate with a one hour minimum per service request.
SLA (Service Level Agreement)
The only difference between maintenance on an ‘As Needed’ basis and our SLA is that in exchange for a monthly commitment of at least one hour, we waive the one hour billing minimum. The hourly rate is the same, but you agree to pay for one hour each month (12 month minimum).
What this means is that anytime you have a service request, we simply keep track of the time it took to make the changes. You can typically get 5-6 minor requests out of this hour (whereas if you made those 5 or 6 requests without a plan, you’d be charged for 5-6 hours).
If your service requests are going to take more than one hour, we’ll provide you with a fixed price estimate so you don’t end up spending $500 on something you thought would take 15 minutes to do.
Maintenance included in this plan: Bug fixes, cosmetic/text changes, photo replacement, work from html administration tools, and email add/delete/archive.
Web Design
So you want a web site. Why? If you’re answer is, “because everyone needs a website,” then you haven’t given this enough thought. Scoja specializes in building websites that accomplish objectives and thus earn their keep and bring a return on the investment. But to meet the objectives, we need to know what those objectives are. Are you trying to generate leads? Inform investors? Sell a product or service? Interact better with existing customers? These are all “needs behind the need.”
If you come to us and say you want an intranet, our first question will be, ‘why?’ Websites come in many shapes and forms. Many look pretty but don’t do what you set out to do. But if we know in no uncertain terms what you want to do, not only can we do that, but we can advise you on options you may not have considered. We have many tools in our toolbox, but just as you wouldn’t tell a carpenter which hammer to use to put up a wall, you’re better of just telling us what you want the wall to look like and where you want it to go and let us come up with the best tools to use based on our experience.
